Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CGA U19 Hockey vs. Traverse City

The second hockey game of the afternoon was the CGA U19 team that played against Traverse City. The girls played well with the CGA team dominating the entire game. I’m not sure what the final score was, but with three minutes left in the game, Culver was up by 8 goals. I’ve posted some photos here; you can find more in the Culver Academies sports gallery at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Prep Hockey vs. Shattuck St. Mary’s

This afternoon the Culver Academy Prep Hockey team hosted Shattuck St. Mary for a matchup on Culver Academy’s campus. The game started strongly with the CMA Eagles scoring the first point right away in the first period. Culver held their lead for the remainder of that period and 17 minutes and 59 seconds of the second period. (The actual offical scoring time according to the ref was with 1.5 seconds left in the second half.) Though sitting next to the timer, it was closer than that as none of us knew if it was a valid point as it was SO CLOSE to the buzzer.) Culver had problems in the third period that they couldn’t recover from; the final score was Culver 2, St. mary’s 4. You can find more photographs at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Indiana Portrait Photographer: Loehr Christmas Shoot

Today, Ginny and I went to shoot the Loehr girls and their parents Wendy and Alan. I think if Ginny could be a photographer full time, she would be a children’s photographer. She loves getting down on the floor and viewing kids at their level, as if she wants to remember what it’s like to see things from their viewpoint.

Eliza is the older of the kids and took charge of the scene by trying to get her sister Avery to smile. She was rocking Avery back and forth and rolling back to let her slide back on her. She was a hoot. When it came to the family shots, we had a hard time with composition. When shooting groups, you try to get the composition right while getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time. It’s always a challenge, but also a lot of fun, as you get some good laughs from checking pictures and saying, “Oops, this time so and so had his eyes shut.” In our case, Eliza was ready to be done with the shoot, as she knew she was going to visit Santa, so Alan and Wendy had to talk her into sticking with it. She was a trooper. The girls are sweet and deserving of Santa’s trip to their house. They are a beautiful family, and we wish them a happy holiday season and blessings in the New Year.

Culver Academy Polo Photos: CMA Polo Scrimmage

This afternoon’s polo game was canceled due to an injury last night to one of the visiting team’s players who broke his leg in two places. Becuase of this, he and another player headed home to Ohio. Instead of canecling everything, Culver Academy decided to help field the the opposing team and have a scrimmage to allow the players a chance to get some practice. All and all, it was exciting to watch, though you didn’t know which side to cheer for. Please note that there were some Academy players in the opposing team’s uniforms. I’ve posted a few photos here; there are more in the sports section under Culver Acaemy on www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Basketball Photos: CGA Varsity Basketball vs. CCHS

What an incredible game between the girl’s varity basketball teams of Culver Community High School and the Culver Girls Academy! Not rooting for either team–my home town high school team or my alma mater–was very difficult. Both teams were evenly matched and played their hearts out. Culver Academy had CCHS outsized, but this didn’t seem to matter. The CCHS girls took advantage of their speed. Regulation play ended in a tie, which added to the excitment. In overtime, Culver Academy Girls won the game 67-59. With a tied game after four periods, no one should feel bad. In my both book, both teams won. I’ve posted some photos here. There were too many shots to choose from, so I’ve posted tons more at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Basketball Photos: CGA JV Basketball vs. CCHS

Tonight the Culver Girls Academy basketball teams hosted the Culver Community High School teams both JV and Varsity games. As much as I enjoy these match ups between the two schools, it always places me in an awkward situation as I never know who to root for, as I’m loyal to both teams! I ultimately end up rooting for no one and enjoy the game for what it is, which is a great way to shoot a game and watch it. These two teams were a great matchup. The photos here are from the JV game. Culver Girls Academy won this one. Find more photos of both teams and this game at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Basketball Photos: CGA JV Basketball vs. Knox

After a rocky start this evening against Knox High School, the CGA JV Basketball Team pulled things together for an easy win. Trailing at the first period, Culver made some subsitutions and then got energized themselves. After the first period, Knox High School had little chance of winning as Culver dominated the rest of the game. The final score, 32-17. I’ve posted a couple of photos here, but there are more at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Basketball Photos: CMA Fresman Basketball vs. Knox

Tonight the CMA Freshman Basketball Team hosted Knox High School. Both teams played hard and it was a great game to watch. Culver led most of the game and utlimately won 42-31. I’ve posted some photos here; there are more in the Culver Academy Sports section on www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Prep Hockey vs. St. Mary’s (Game 2)

Today was the rematch between Culver’s Prep Hockey team and St. Mary’s Hockey team. Unfortunately, I was able to stay for just 2 of the 3 periods due to a prior engagement. I’m told that I missed a great 3rd period. In what I did watch, St. Mary’s learned from the game last night and proved to be a tough opponent in this game. I’m told that the final score ended in a tie 1-to-1 with Culver scoring in the last seconds of the game for a tie.
