CMA Freshman Basketball vs. Rochester

Tonight, I photographed the CMA Freshman Basketball Team as they played Rochester High School at Culver Academies’ campus. The game started out looking as though Culver might have been a little out matched. However, after a couple of minutes, the CMA Eagles found their groove. Though Culver trailed most of the game and only took the lead one or twice for around 15-30 seconds, Culver pulled it out in the 4th quater. With a minute and half left in the game, Culver took the lead and held it until the end. It was a great game to witness.

I’ve posted some photos here. The rest of the photos from the game are posted on the CulverPhotos.com website at:

CGA JV Basketball vs. Knox

Photos from Culver Academy’s Basketball Win at Semi-State!

Ginny and I traveled to Huntington to see the Culver Military Academy’s basketball team play in the semi-state game. This was one of the most intense experiences we’ve had as photographers. We were so caught up in the game, in the noise from the fans, and by the close score throughout that we had a hard time maintaining our focus on taking pictures.

We saw so much class and heart on the basketball court during this game, and we also felt that the coaching on both sides was impressive. The Columbia City Eagles played well. They were especially good at the three-point shot, but any time they came within giving the Culver Eagles a threat, the Culver team would step up the defensive intensity and show great patience and team play on offense. They simply wouldn’t give up their lead in the fourth quarter.

We were also impressed by how many students showed up after a long bus drive to show their support for the Culver Eagles. They never stopped cheering throughout the game, and they never lost faith in the team. They chanted often, “We believe that we can win.” It was remarkable to see so many people in the stands. Faculty, alumni, and parents showed in great numbers.

For the first time ever, the Culver Eagles captured a semi-state win to take the team to the state event next weekend. We captured this game and plan to attend the state event. All of the photos are free to anyone who wants to download them. If you know a player, be sure to let him know that he can have any of these shots for free. Congrats Culver Eagles! You made your school and town proud!

I’ve posted some of my favorite photos here. There are many more photos from the game posted at:

CCHS Basketball vs. Argos High School

The Culver Community High School basketball teams are rocking it this year! Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to attend the girls’ games, but I did make it to the Sectional game for the boys last week. The Culver Cavaliers played their long-time rivals from Argos High School in JV and Varsity Basketball. All teams played well and were exciting to watch. Argos won the JV game but Culver won the Varsity game. I’ve included my favorite photos here. Other photos from the game are posted at:

Michigan Sports Photography: Nieces and Nephews Basketball

A couple of weeks ago, Ginny and I traveled to Monroe, Michigan to watch and shoot our niece and nephew play basketball. The kids are young, but they actually had a great grasp of the game and were a lot of fun to watch. All of the kids played well and had a lot of fun. The gym was quite dark compared to high school venues, but with a few adjustments, I was able to get some great shots. If anyone is curious, our niece and nephew are easy to pick out in the photos as they are the tall, blonde kids on the St. Mike’s teams. They are really great kids… and we discovered, they are pretty good at basketball.
