CMA Crew Regatta Photos

On May 14th, the Culver Academy Crew Teams hosted an Invitational Regatta on Lake Maxinkuckee. As this was one of only two events that the team scheduled in Culver, I was looking forward to it. As everyone has learned this Spring in Culver, the weather has not been friendly to the athletic teams. The event did take place, though it was very cold, cloudy, and overcast. It was not ideal for photos or the competitors.

I’ve posted a few photos here. Other photos are located at:

Indiana Sports Photography: Culver Academy Crew

Last week, I tagged along on one of the Culver Academy’s chase boats during a practice of the CMA and CGA crew teams practiced on Lake Maxinkuckee. It was cloudy, but I decided to shoot anyway, as we haven’t been seeing much of the sun here in Culver with all the rain. With as many rainy, windy days as we’ve had this spring, I felt that getting some photos was better than missing the entire season. This Spring, so many games and practices have been canceled that you never know when you’ll get another chance. In hindsight, I’m glad that I did shoot them as I had scheduling conflicts the other days that they practiced.

Culver Academy Reunion Photos: Crew Regatta

On Saturday morning, I was out the door by 6:45 a.m. to catch the Culver Crew Regatta, as this was only the second time this season that the Culver Academy Crew Teams competed on Lake Maxinkuckee. I shot the team during practice a few weeks ago and wanted to get them competing and in their uniforms.

If you’ve followed my blogs, you’ve probably figured out that the weather here in Culver is unpredictable and has not been my friend this Spring. Saturday morning was no different. The event started almost an hour late due to the weather. It was hazy, foggy, and overcast. At one point, it even started to rain enough that I put my protective gear on my camera.

I apologize for not getting more pictures of the boys’ crew teams, but during the five hours that I was there, most of the races were of the girls’ teams. I would have loved to stayed longer, but being Culver’s Reunion Weekend, I had committed to following one of the alumni classes around as members attended their events.

I’ve posted some of the crew photos here. Others can be found at:

Culver Academy Crew Photos: Crew Practice

Yesterday, Culver Academies Coach Weaser was kind enough to let me tag along on one of the chase boats as the CGA and CMA Crew Teams practiced on Lake Maxinkuckee. The weather was nice and the lake was calm, though the winds picked up slightly as we progressed along the shore. The kids had a great practice in preparation for a large tournament in Cincinnatti this weekend that will have over 50 teams participating.

I’ve posted some photos here. More photos are located at www.culverphotos.com.  To simplify things, I’ve sorted the photos into girls (www.culverphotos.com/5_6_10_cgacrew) and boys (www.culverphotos.com/5_6_10_cmacrew).
