CMA Varsity Baseball Photos: Culver Academy vs. North Miami

On Wednesday, the Culver Academy Varsity Baseball team continued its winning streak as the team hosted North Miami High School. The game started slow with North Miami scoring the first few points. However, Culver came together and took control of the game. The final score was Culver-15, North Miami-5.

Earlier this week, the Culver Academies Varsity Baseball Team hosted the Culver Community High School team. Both teams played very well and managed to keep the score close. The CMA team won with a score of 3-to-2. I’ve posted some photos here; there are several more posted at:

Yesterday afternoon, I had two firsts for the Spring. I wore shorts, as the temperature was in the 80s, and I shot a track meet. (See my other blog entry for more on the track meet.)

However, I started my afternoon shooting some of the Culver Academy’s varsity baseball team who hosted a match against South Bend Riley. I don’t know how the game ended, but it got off to a rocky start. As I’ve learned with most baseball and softball games, it started late. (If I weren’t shooting multiple events in an afternoon, it wouldn’t matter. When trying to keep a schedule and make it to other sports, games that start late limit the amount of time that I’m able to stay.) In addition to starting late, the game started with only one umpire. This posed a slight problem as an umpire at home plate has a difficult time seeing the action at the other bases. (There was a bad call at third base that I have the photos to prove. Don’t worry, though, it didn’t afect the score.) Finally, the CMA Eagles slow start allowed Riley 3 points in the first inning.

I wish I could have stayed longer, but my plan for the day was to shoot the track meet because I hadn’t shot one this year. Because it started later, I decided that getting a little of the baseball game was better than getting none of it. I’ve posted some photos here. Culver Indiana Photography: CCHS Boys Varsity Baseball vs. Elkhart Christian Academy

This afternoon, after catching some photos of the Academy Crew teams practicing, I went to the Culver Community High School to get some photos of the CCHS High School Baseball Team as they played Elkhart Christian Academy. The game started off appearing evenly matched, but Culver Community had a few bad innings and gave up some points to Christian Academy. I left about halfway through the game because the sun was getting lower and my vantage point faced me directly into the sun. I’ve posted some photos here. This evening, the CMA Varsity Baseball team played West Central High School on Culver Academies’ campus. After a late start due to bus troubles, the game got started on a beuatiful evening with both teams appearing to be evenly matched. Unfortunately, due to donkey basketball (and yes, I really did say donkey basketball) at the Culver Community High School, I could not stay for very much of the game. I’ve posted some photos here. This evening, there was a Varsity Baseball game between the CMA Eagles and Culver Community High School teams at the CCHS field. The Eagles started strong and lead for the parts of the game that I was able to watch. They played well as a team, but the Culver Community players hung in there. Culver Academy Baseball Photos: CMA Varsity Baseball vs. Morgan Township

Tonight, the 2010 baseball season began at Culver Academy with the first home game against Morgan Township. The weather was a little deceiving with the temperature being cooler than it appeared, but this didn’t seem to bother either team. The Culver Academy Eagles seemed to struggle in the beginning, but they started coming together as the game progressed. For those unfamilar with Culver, the kids returned from a long Spring Break (over 2 weeks) just 7 days ago. Unlike many of the schools that Culver plays, the Culver baseball team did not continue to practice over the vacation. Knowing this, I think the team played well. I’m not sure what the final score was, as I left once the light started being prohibitive for shooting but when I left, Culver was gaining ground. This morning the Culver Community High School Varsity Baseball Team hosted a double header against Lacrosse High School. The weather was great, though it was a little chilly at the beginning of the game. I wasn’t able to stay for all of the games, but what I did watch proved that the Caveliers will be a tough opponent this season.
