CGA JV Lacrosse Photos: Culver Academy vs. Park Tudor

The undeated Culver Academy Girls JV Lacrosse team played Park Tudor High School, which is the school that I would have attended had I not chosen Culver 28 years ago. The girls are still undefeated with an easy win and score of 12-to-2. The girls played exceptionally well and they have a coach who has developed the team. (Several of the girls had never played lacrosse before Culver.)

To the parents and kids, let me apologize. I started watching the game without a jacket on. With the wind, it was too cold for me. The only jacket that I had in the car was my embroidered CulverPhotos.com jacket, which is bright red, not the right color when shooting a game against Park Tudor. In my defense, I only have one embroidered jacket. When I had it made, I wanted a bright color that wouldn’t offend Culver Aacdemy supporters or Culver Communuity High School fans when I shot games where the two schools played one another. With that in mind, I chose red. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten a red jacket, an orange jacket, and a maroon jacket. Sorry if it looked like I was supporting your opponent.

Culver Lacrosse Photos: CGA JV and Varsity vs. Carmel High School

Last weekend, the sun was shining for a change as I shot my first lacrosse games of the season. The JV and Varsity teams of CGA hosted Carmel High School for back to back games Saturday afternoon. You can’t tell from the photos, but the field was a soggy mess from all of the rain that we’ve had.

The Culver girl’s JV team played an exceptional game, easily winning with a score of 11-to-2. The CGA Varsity team really struggled throughout their game and did not play up to their potential. They did have a great rally late in the game, but it was too little, too late. I’ve posted my favorite from both games here. Other photos are located at:

Indiana Sports Photography: CMA Varsity Soccer vs. Argos High School

In the second game of the evening, the Culver Varsity Soccer Team played Argos High School at Culver Academies. The CMA Eagles played well, but some struggles in the first half put them too far behind to overcome Argos in the second half. With a couple of scores late in the second half, Culver showed promise and heart. The final score was Culver-2 Argos-3. I’ve posted some photos here. Others are located at:

Yesterday, the first soccer game of the day played on Culver Academies’ campus was between the JV teams teams from CMA and Argos High School. It was a fun game to watch as neither team dominated the game. The ball spent equal time on both ends of the field. Ultimately, Culver Military Academy did win. The final score: Culver-3, Argos-0. Last night, the girl’s JV and Varsity volleyball teams of Culver Academy played West Central High School at Culver. Both the JV and Varsity teams played well and were evenly matched against West Central. Ultimately, the CGA teams won their matches, though West Central did win some individual games. Culver Academy Lacrosse Photos: CMA JV Lacrosse vs. Cathedral

Yesterday, Culver’s second lacrosse game of the day (there were four games in total among the lacrosse teams) was between the CMA JV Team and the JV Team of Cathedral High School from Indianapolis. (The two varsity teams squared off the previous night under the lights on Fleet Field.) Cathedral played a strong game, but they were no match for the JV Eagles. There isn’t a score board on the field overlooking Lake Maxinkuckee, so I do not know what the final score was, but I’m told that the Eagles beat Cathedral by several points. Culver Academy Lacrosse Photos: CMA JV Lacrosse vs. Bishop Leurs

This afternoon, the weather cleared up and the CMA Eagles hosted two lacrosse games with their JV and Varsity teams against Bishop Leurs High School. I got to only watch the second half of the game, as the rugby match I also shot this afternoon, started late. The JV lacrosse game was a little one sided with the majority of the action being at the opposing team’s goal. As a photographer, I missed half of the team during the game because Culver’s offense kept the game at the opposing team’s goal. If the lacrosse teams keep playing this well, I’m never going to get any photos of their defense doing anything more than standing around waiting for the ball that never comes their way. Please know that I’m not belittling Bishop Leurs. They probably do well against other schools. Culver’s lacrosse program is just that amazing here among Midwestern schools.

Culver Academy Football Photos: CMA JV Football vs. North Judson

This evening, the Culver Academy JV Football team traveled to North Judson for one of the last games of the season. The weather was a little cool but much nicer than the weather that they’ve played in recently. The Eagles played well and made the Academy proud. The game started out with Culver Academy returning the first two kicks that they received with touchdowns. I was busy taking photos of the game and forgot to note the final score, but I believe it was 26 to 8. Culver Academy Soccer Photos: CMA JV Soccer vs. Mishawaka Marian

What a great day for a soccer game at Culver Academy. This evening, the CMA Eagles JV Soccer Team hosted Mishawaka Marian High School for a soccer match that was quite exciting to watch. The teams were closely skilled with no domintating winner. Due to a previous appointment and fading light (the game didn’t start until 6:30), I could stay only for the first half. But that half was fun to watch. I’ve posted my favorite photos from the game here; more can be found at www.culverphotos.com. I believe that the final score was 2-1 with Culver winning.

Culver Academy Football Photos: CMA JV Football vs. John Adams

Today, Ginny and I photographed the JV Football team’s game against South Bend Adams. The Culver JV team played hard in rainy conditions, and I have to admit that it felt a lot colder than upper 50s. I wore four layers of clothes and could have used another layer. We got wet, but we enjoyed watching the game. We saw the Culver Eagles’ quarterbacks get hit pretty hard into today’s game, as Adams is a physical team. The Eagles weren’t successful, but they played hard. One of Ginny’s favorite players is Austin Pegg, number 11. I’ve given Austin the “front cover” of this blog entry because Ginny thinks the drive he led in the third quarter was the best one of the game. Austin may look small, but “he is big on talent,” as Ginny would say.
