October 1st, 2011 
Grant A couple of weeks ago was the CGA Varsity soccer team final home game that included recognition for the team’s seniors. Given that it was last time the girls would play on Culver’s campus together, as a team, it was an emotional day for everyone.
The girls played hard but with several players out due to injuries, they could not pull out a victory.

October 1st, 2011 Grant Over Fall Parent’s Weekend, the Culver Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Team played their last home game of the season against Portage. The weather was nice and the CMA Eagles played well. They won 3 to 1.

No Comments >> September 17th, 2011 Grant Saturday morning, the CMA JV Soccer team hosted a four-team tournament at Culver Academies. Culver did quite well and won both of their games. They also won the overall tournament. I’ve posted some photos here. Other photos are located at:

September 10th, 2011 Grant This past weekend, the CGA Varsity Soccer team hosted Wawasee High School for a Saturday afternoon game. Culver started the game on a a positive note with Amber Cowell scoring the first goal of the game in the first two minutes of the game. Both teams played well as was reflective of a few lead changes. Ultimately, the CGA Eagles won.

The CMA Eagles played well, but some struggles in the first half put them too far behind to overcome Argos in the second half. With a couple of scores late in the second half, Culver showed promise and heart. The final score was Culver-2 Argos-3. I’ve posted some photos here. Others are located at:

It was a fun game to watch as neither team dominated the game. The ball spent equal time on both ends of the field. Ultimately, Culver Military Academy did win. The final score: Culver-3, Argos-0. Due to dimming light and a prior engagment, I was unable to stay for the entire game. I was able though to watch 60 of the 80 minutes of game play. From what I did see, the girls of Culver played extremely well and were headed for an easy win. (When I left, the score was 5-to-0 and 80% of the play was on Westville’s goal end.)

I’ve been told that this is normally a huge rivalry game that has resulted in some fan and spectator problems in the past. Luckily, this was not the case last night. The game started with CCHS scoring an exciting and tying goal that ended the first half with a score of 1-to-1. Unfortunately, the final score was Culver-1, Argos-4, as Argos rallied in the second half. Both teams played hard. I think the Culver team has a lot of potential and a couple of great coaches. I hope to photograph them again.

September 4th, 2010 Grant The other morning, I shot the CGA JV soccer team as they hosted the girl’s JV team from Culver Community High School on Culver Academy’s campus. With this being a match between the two local schools that I follow, I found myself in the awkward position that I couldn’t cheer for one team over the other. I love the school I graduated from, but I have grown to love the community I live in, so I cannot root for either side. Ultimately, I hope for a tie. This game was a lot of fun to watch as both teams were very evenly matched. THe pictures show just how determined the girls played on both sides. The girls from CCHS won by one goal.
