Grant On May 12th, the CMA JV Lacrosse team hosted LaPorte High School for an evening game played on Oliver Field at Culver Academies. As expected with Culver’s Lacrosse teams, the JV team dominated the game and easily won 8 to 0.

No Comments >> May 12th, 2011 Grant On May 12th, I managed to photograph the first game of the Girl’s State Lacrosse playoffs as CGA played Homestead at Culver Academies. The Culver girls played really well and proved why they’re always one of the leading teams in the State Tournament. They easily won with a score of 14-to-2.

May 7th, 2011 Grant On Saturday, the CMA JV Lacrosse team hosted Carmel High School for a lacrosse game played on Oliver Field. The weather was bad with the possibility of rain coming in; this kept me from shooting the entire game. Culver struggled and never quite seemed to get in synch.

May 1st, 2011 Grant The undeated Culver Academy Girls JV Lacrosse team played Park Tudor High School, which is the school that I would have attended had I not chosen Culver 28 years ago. The girls are still undefeated with an easy win and score of 12-to-2. The girls played exceptionally well and they have a coach who has developed the team. (Several of the girls had never played lacrosse before Culver.)
To the parents and kids, let me apologize. I started watching the game without a jacket on. With the wind, it was too cold for me. The only jacket that I had in the car was my embroidered CulverPhotos.com jacket, which is bright red, not the right color when shooting a game against Park Tudor. In my defense, I only have one embroidered jacket. When I had it made, I wanted a bright color that wouldn’t offend Culver Aacdemy supporters or Culver Communuity High School fans when I shot games where the two schools played one another. With that in mind, I chose red. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten a red jacket, an orange jacket, and a maroon jacket. Sorry if it looked like I was supporting your opponent.

It was a little overcast, which limited the colors that I could get as I shot.
Culver’s JV team played well and won 6-to-4.

The weather was nice and the lighting was good for getting some great action photos. With the sun starting to set, I managed to get some cool colors and neat shadows. As expected, the CMA Eagle played well, easily winning 12-to-2.
Before the game started, Culver honored their Seniors with Senior Ceremony, which is now a tradition with all of the sports.

The JV and Varsity teams of CGA hosted Carmel High School for back to back games Saturday afternoon. You can’t tell from the photos, but the field was a soggy mess from all of the rain that we’ve had.
The Culver girl’s JV team played an exceptional game, easily winning with a score of 11-to-2. The CGA Varsity team really struggled throughout their game and did not play up to their potential. They did have a great rally late in the game, but it was too little, too late. I’ve posted my favorite from both games here. Other photos are located at:

The weather was nice, the kids played hard, and a good sized crowd cheered them on. It was a lot of fun and a great way to end a big weekend. The game was a high scoring game with no dominate side, as the teams were picked by the team captains. After each goal, the teams performed little routines that could be best described as “excessive celebration,” which had the fans laughing. I can tell you this–Culver won. Beyond that, I’m sorry that I wasn’t paying close enough attention to say whether Maroon or White won. Regardless, it was fun and something more teams should do in their off seasons. May 8th, 2010 Grant Sorry that I’m a little late in posting this entry. Between a computer failure and 9 shoots involving over 3,000 photos this weekend, I’m little behind schedule. On Saturday, the Culver Eagles JV Lacrosse team and the JV team from Brebeuf out of Indianapolis played a tough game, braving some very cold weather. The weather didn’t seem to slow the Eagles down. CMA easily won, although Brebeuf did manage to give Culver’s defense some action, which was a change for me. Lately, I’ve seen only the offensive end of the lacrosse field for JV and Varsity. This was the second game of the day for the JV team, and though I’m sure they were feeling the effects of the first game, they won the game without a problem. I’ve posted some photos here. It was a freezing, windy, cold day. (I had on two pairs of socks, long johns, gloves, ear muffs, and my heavy jacket that I thought I’d put away for the winter.) Did someone forget to tell Mother Nature that this is the middle of May?!
Once again, Culver dominated the game with little action on their defensive end. The final score was 17 to 1 (15 points were scored in the first half). The action on the offensive side provided some great opportunities for shots on the goal. I’ve posted some photos here.
